Oasis Southern Baptist Church had its beginning back in 1950.  The church bought property in Salton Sea Beach and changed its name to West Shores Baptist Church in 1988.  Actual construction of the building began in February, 1989, during the pastorate of Jerry Kilpatrick.  Construction teams from the Southern Baptist Convention came from as far as Tennesee and Mississippi to help with the construction.  The new building was completed in October of 1990.

West Shores Baptist Church was founded as a religious order.  Since then, it has expanded the scope of its community services in community outreach.

The needs of 21st-century communities seem to be growing by the day. Our center have expanded to meet these needs. Over the years, we have learned that what people need most is someone who will listen to their concerns - someone they can turn to for support when the going gets tough. And that's what West Shores Baptist Church is all about.
